Us in a Nutshell
Once upon a time, a boy met a girl. He thought he’d like to marry her…and he did. Twenty years, four states, eleven moves, and five kids later here we are – the Colaws. The title of our blog pretty much sums up what is most important to us, our faith and our family. We love Jesus, and we want to help others love Jesus. This is our first and greatest calling. Our second passion is our family. With marriage and parenting come wonderful blessings and great challenges. We want to help encourage and strengthen your family. Why luke117? The second part of Luke 1:17 a number of years ago become Mike’s life verse…. “to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared.”
More About Mike
I worked with youth and young adults until 2011 when we felt called to move to Indianapolis where I became the lead pastor of Trinity Church. I absolutely love what I do! I studied philosophy and religion at Oklahoma Wesleyan University, received my masters from Wesley Seminary at Indiana Wesleyan University and I’m currently working on a doctoral degree from them as well. In my spare time I love lifting weights, reading, coffee shops, playing the guitar, the Colts, Oklahoma Football, and a great steak.
More About Leslie
I spent many years as a stay-at-home mom, beginning in 2003 when our oldest child was born. Our youngest was born 17 years after that, with three in between. (Yep, you did that math right – 5 kids in 17 years.) I am now on staff at our church and continue to work out my own call to ministry. Life with five kids and helping lead a ministry is busy, crazy, and wonderful. I love to express myself creatively through writing and creating beautiful and inviting spaces. There’s not a lot of time for much else, but besides my family and church the other things I love are yoga, chocolate, coffee, and good food.

Just Started Wild Goose Chase, by Mark Batterson. Here’s a quote similar to your recent strong preaching about our bringing Light into our difficult places: “One of the greatest acts of worship is keeping a good attitude in a bad situation. And doing a good job at a bad job honors God.” –Jan Doublestein
That’s a great quote!
Stumbled onto this site this morning while searching for some “God center me” net talk while away from home and away from my daily devotionals. Thanks for the uplifting blog.
Thank you Carol!
Good Sunday to you: I was googling “Why Good People Do Nothing” and found this page! Several years ago, I taught a Lenten class on the subject I wanted to develop into a standardized course. May I send you a copy? I’d appreciate your comments. Thanks! Thayne Muller
Thayne good to meet you my friend! You can email me at justthink@luke117.com.
I didn’t realize you guys are in Indy. We moved back to Indiana in 2017. Glad you are doing well. Two of your college ministry residents are good friends with my oldest son, Caleb.
